Diplomatic relations between Singapore and Oman were established on 21 February 1985. Singapore appointed Mr Teng Theng Dar as Non-Resident Ambassador to Oman in 2008.
The Consulate-General of the Republic of Singapore was opened in Muscat on 15 August 2013. The mission of the Consulate-General is to safeguard the interests of Singaporeans visiting, living and working in Oman and to promote bilateral, economic and cultural links between Singapore and Oman.
At the inaugural Singapore-Oman Strategic Dialogue on 6 December 2022, Singapore and Oman have agreed to the concurrent upgrade of the Consulates-General to Embassies. This reflects the strong and growing relations between Singapore and Oman. The concurrent upgrade of the Consulates-General to Embassies will be effective from 1 January 2023.
